MAY KAR/BCRR BOARD MEETING – 05/02/06

GREAT LAKES CHAMPIONCHIP AND KAR/BCRR           BILL FRIES

  • Bill is looking to achieve an awareness between our group and his company.
  • Bill presented some of the programs he presents.
  • They are willing to help with any event we wish.

STEVES RAIDER STOMP UPDATE   BOB SMOLA

  • Bob was here to promote the new race in Decatur.
  • The race is Saturday, July 1
  • We will help advertise the race at the Klassic.

CINCO DE MAYA HASH RUN-FINAL DETAILS                    JOE

  • All set to go.

SAFARI MARATHON TRAINING PROGRAM                        BONNIE

  • The coaches are all set.  Bonnie ran through a list of many of the coaches.
  • Coaches training and orientation will be provided.
  • KAR will do a presentation.
  • Bonnie will be coordinating outdoor track workouts.
  • Water stop responsibilities – Todd will help with all four dates.  Bonnie has the list of those at the meeting that volunteered.
  • KAR will not be able to cover fees for Kal-Haven users during safari training.
  • Bonnie will do email communications.  Chris will direct the coaches.  He would like Gazelle to be the voice of the program.
  • Chris has reserved many rooms for the Chicago Marathon. 

YMCA HEALTHY KIDS DAY RUN-FINAL DETAILS         BONNIE

  • Sharrie and Bonnie are working with the Portage Y.
  • We need to provide a race clock and be at the finish line.  We also are in charge of the raffle.
  • The run is occurring on June 2.
  • Bob will be able to help at the finish line.
 

GIRLS ON TRACK PROGRAM & KAL-HAVEN TRAIL RELAY         BONNIE

  • They are planning on 240 girls from 11 sites.
  • Bonnie asks should we actively seek a partnership with the GOTR.  If they are interested.
  • Water stop

RUNNER OF THE YEAR AWARDS                               BONNIE

  • Bonnie’s handout had a list of potential categories for award.
  • How will it be determined?  Nominations, board decision.  Nominations should have a fact sheet that supports the nomination. 
  • The board can review nominations.

RELAY FOR LIFE                                          BONNIE

  • We could not get the number of people needed to become formally involved, although several KAR people are going to participate.
  • We worked on ideas for sponsoring a kid’s game at the site.  Win a Goldfish Game and Rubber Duck type games were discussed.

  • The program is all set except for final word from the PCOC run in Portage.
