Club Minutes for September 2004

KAR MEETING

9/13/04

KAR/BCRR Merger

  • Bonnie is still working on the paperwork to include BCRR. Recommends a larger board to handle the larger membership.
  • It may be good to keep the elected officials at the same number and have a number of positions that can be delegated out.
  • We now have 6 elected board members on the kar.
  • Bonnie would like someone specializing in marketing.
  • Is there people in BCRR that want to continue in an executive board? There may be only about two positions that could be filled. No one on that board is ready to commit to the larger club.

Open board position

  • Rollin is not going to be able to continue as Treasurer. He has yet to formalize it.
  • Ralph has volunteered to take that position.
  • Rollin will work with Ralph to ease the transition.

USATF Membership

  • Bonnie passed out a handout.
  • Many groups in the area are members. KTC was but KAR is not.
  • The cost of membership is $55/year.
  • The club needs to have a practice schedule and that practices are coached by a USATF member.
  • General liability insurance is available through membership.
  • Other benefits are on the second page of the handout.
  • Insurance covers practice, not events.
  • Bonnie is going to call to get more detail as to how many KAR people have to join USATF to satisfy the USATF.

Gull Lake runs

  • Advertise a run for Oct. 2.
  • Meet at the Gull Lake Café and 8:00. Coffee afterwards.
  • Would like to run from October to May if it is popular.
  • Bonnie will pass on word through the internet.

Halloween Hash run

  • October 30 at 10:00am at Al Sabo Preserve.
  • Charlie is creating a flyer to advertise.
  • Co sponsored by BCRR

2005 Boston/Bayshore Marathon Training

  • Combine with the Shufflers to enlarge the training group was presented by Bonnie. The Shufflers tend to work on their own according to Ralph.
  • This would be a diverse group in terms of training.
  • Dan ______ or Tim Robinson are better contacts for the Shufflers.
  • The program would begin in January.

Free one year club membership

  • Can we give a membership to John Tecca, he supports the Klassic each year as a sponsor. There are others that fit this description.
  • The exec. Board approves giving out the membership.

Marathon Training water station.

  • Bonnie, Charlie, Jay, and maybe Rollin will be able to help.
  • The help is needed on Sept 25.

Newsletter

  • Charlie is working on the next letter.

K Klassic trademark branding

  • Charlie is also working on this.

K Klassic issues

  • Is Charlie committing to another year as race director.
  • MRC does have someone to take the director position, but a smooth transition would require our help.
  • T-shirts are being distributed.

Club Championship Awards Series

  • Lycra polyester gloves will be given. The gloves will have the logo.
  • Jay will be giving out the awards next month, maybe at the hash run.
  • An awards party could be given here next month.

Gait Analysis

  • Jay has a speaker, Stephanie of Gazelle Sports, planned for next month’s meeting to address running gaits.
  • We will have the meeting at Borgess’ Health Center. 7:00 pm start time.
  • She will need a TV with a VHS.
  • We need to start announcing it soon.

September 24 at 5:45 at Pineview Golf Course is having an open 5K cross country run. The college will be running an 8K.
